TANG Ming Xi's lab work

Just saw an amazing and Inspiring presentation on TANG Ming Xi Design Technology Research Centre on projects that he and his doctoral students are completing. Amazing work on interactive folk music in Yunnan, Kesi silk production revitalisation in Suzhou, and complexity in the design in the challenging natural environments of Tibet. There is so much going on in cultures-based innovation at Hong Kong Polytechnic that is exciting and meaningful.

We have to have a regional symposium next year.

Little person at big table

I finally adventure back out for the day, which in Hong Kong means going to a mall. This mall has a Muji store so it is worth it. I go to this veggie Asian restaurant and they seat me at a table for twelve. I must be eating with the President there are so many empty chairs. But the staff are teasing me which is sweet and the food will be good because the place is packed. It just makes me smile and think I need to have more invisible friends to go out with.

Meeting Asale in Hong Kong

What I love so much about this trip to Asia is that it feels more like a family reunion where I am catching up with old friends and their family. I loved meeting Asale today and learning about her current life and writing. Had a great walk through Central Hong Kong and ate lunch at Mana a restaurant that could have been in San Francisco including all the Caucasian yoga chicks.

Now a bit exhausted so will take a nap and then answer more emails.

Leaving Shanghai

I am waiting at the Pudong Airport to go to Hong Kong. I am so grateful to Cathy Wang for being such a wonderful hostess of Shanghai. I had a great time with her family Rudi (her American husband) Kai (her son) and Xing (her daughter) last night eating Chinese hot pot. Yummy.

I did not get to see too many tourist attractions in Shanghai as I needed to rest in the hotel a lot to make sure I did not get sick. Even today I have a sore throat and sniffles. I hope to able to catch up on email this evening.

I am loving the trip. I can't believe that it will be only one week tomorrow. How is that possible?

More later when I arrive in Hong Kong. Peace out!

China bridge talk in brief

Had a great Q&A about cultures based innovation tonight. This was the first time I have presented on the topic. The audience that Cathy Wang assembled were pretty high powered in terms of the user experience, design, and innovation nexus. I had such a great time and will report more in the morning. Shanghai time. As a quick thought, I love the vibe of Shanghai.
